“Talk Sports with Tony Ott” with title sponsor The Tire Factory, will air weekdays 2-4pm on KONA-AM. Tony Ott will be the shows’s host and bring back features that made the show a unique forum for sports and non-sports fans alike. The focus will be the LOCAL sports scene, mixed with the Regional and National sports conversation. Count on top name sports figures stopping by and saying hello to the region, and of course the sports fans input. The show is lively and provoking. “I don’t just talk statistics with the sports fans, I like to make them think while keeping it fun”, says Ott.
Ott began broadcasting “Talk Sports with Tony Ott” in February 1989, and produced and hosted nearly 3,000 hours of Sports Radio. In 1990 Talk Sports went to television, and had over 120 live sports call in talk shows; a first in the Pacific Northwest. Among some of the Sports guests who appeared on the show were Drew Bledsoe, Dave Villwock, Stu Barnes, Oli Kolzig, to name just a few. Ott was also the original Color Analyst for the Tri-City Americans Hocky Club, Play-by-play for baseball, and over 20 years of local sports interaction, from High School sports to Professional. More recently Ott has been Color Commentator alongside Michael McDonnal’s Play- by- play on KONA’s High School Sports broadcasts and also part of KONA’s broadcast team for the 2011 Columbia Cup Hydroplance races. “I am very dedicated to the local sports teams and athletics in this region, giving them a voice to be heard and recognized for their effort is my goal”, Ott explained.
