Get to know Jeff Phillips
Jeff Phillips brings more than 20 years broadcasting experience to KONA. He describes himself as “a Californian by birth, a Missourian by choice and a Tri-Citian, by golly!” He was born in San Jose, CA but grew up in Mount Vernon, MO. He is a graduate of the University Of Missouri School Of Journalism. He has worked in radio and television in Columbia, MO, Fort Smith, AR, Springfield, MO, ESPN in Bristol, CT, Joplin, MO, New Bern, NC and Oklahoma City. “I am so thrilled to be back in radio, especially with a station that has such a legacy as KONA. I look forward to talking with our listeners every day!”
He and his wife, Mindi, have two kids, Myranda, 12 and Curtis, 8, as well as 14-year-old spaniel mix Oksana and 6-year-old Australian Heeler Asia. He is a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Missouri Tigers and Oakland Raiders. He is also an amateur World War II and baseball historian and is working to enact worldwide bans on Miracle Whip and Jimmy Buffett.
