Two hurt in Dayton officer-involved shooting

Washington State Patrol is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a suspect and deputy injured in Dayton yesterday afternoon.

A Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to Dayton High School’s baseball field in the 300 block of S. Cottonwood Street, to do a welfare check. Deputies say he was confronted by Alonzo Snider, a 43-year old Dayton man. After a scuffle between the officer and the man, a shot was fired, but neither man was shot.

Both men were treated for minor injuries, and the suspect was booked into the Columbia County Jail.

Deputies say no further information is available at this time, until after an investigation is done by the Washington State Patrol.
