The Benton County Sheriff's Department has a new Patrol Service Dog, Sable.  He was born in the Czech Republic in 2018 & arrived in the United States in March 2019.  Sable began training to become a Sheriff canine at a training facility in Alabama.

Deputy Frederick and Sergeant Gonzalez spent the last week at the training facility putting several canines through a rigorous selection process. Sable performed exceptionally well during the process and was ultimately selected to join the canine team.

Sable will spend a week and half with his new human partner and his family so they can begin creating that special bond.  After that, Sable and Deputy Frederick will go through a 10 week Police Canine Course.

Once the training is completed, the Sable and Deputy Frederick will be assigned to the Criminal Apprehension Gang Enforcement Team.

Sable’s main mission is searching for evidence and suspects in and around crime scenes.
