Water in Mabton is safe to drink, that's according to the Washington Department of Health.

Officials say they tested the city water twice and found it to be clear of E. Coli.

Mabton, in the Yakima Valley, was warning the community to boil water after it was found to be contaminated with E. Coli bacteria on April 16th.

The city said in a statement last week they do not know why the bacteria were detected in the water and that they are checking to make sure there is enough chlorine in the water system to kill the bacteria.

It's the seventh time so far this year in Washington such an order has been triggered.

"I would not be alarmed by that number, it does vary from year to year and it is not something that causes me undue concern that we have had 7 this year," says Dorothy Tibbetts with the state Health Department's Office of Drinking Water.

Tibbetts adds investigators are searching for the cause of the contamination.
