West Richland police say they will have to make do because there is no funding in the budget for a new building.

Captain Ben Majetich says last fall the roof started leaking and this week they were replacing the aging ceilings. However, when the storm hit Wednesday night rain flooded the hallways and damaged the ceiling tiles.

Captain Majetich says luckily several rooms were they housed police equipment were not damaged.

"The police department right now, we are going to have to deal with what we have because the next priority after the public works building is the animal control shelter which we are really anxious to get started as well," says Majetich.

He says they will wait until the roof is finished before starting to repair the interior water damage. Majetich says they continue to make repairs on the building to keep it up and running until it is time for a new building to be built.
