OLYMPIA, Wash. - Governor Jay Inslee spoke to the state of Washington today. Inslee reported that a vast majority of the state is complying with the order and he says that some businesses and people are not complying with the Stay Home, Stay Safe order. "We've had thousands of calls from concerned residents with reports that some people and some businesses are not compliant."

At his side were Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste.

The Governor said he was announcing today how the orders will be enforced. Since the initial stay at home order was given, the focus of enforcing the order by educating people, remains. He continue to say that the orders might need to be extended.

Inslee's plan or "Three tiers," approach: If state or local authorities receive a complaint from a citizen, they're going to let people know that if they are violating the order that they need to stop violating the order for the safety of Washingtonians. If they don't come into compliance, the state will issue citations, suspension notices of permits including revoking business licenses. Failure to comply at that point would mean AG Ferguson could enforce civil or criminal charges.
