SEATTLE, Wash.-- Amtrak is pausing service between Seattle and Minnesota following Saturday's deadly derailment of a Seattle-bound passenger train in northern Montana. Three people were killed in Saturday's derailment near Joplin, Montana, and dozens more were injured. Amtrak now says all westbound Empire Builder trains departing from Chicago will end at St. Paul-Minneapolis through Thursday. Eastbound trains will begin at St. Paul-Minneapolis, with no service between that city and Seattle. There will not be any substitute transportation.

Amtrak also operates a station in Pasco. If you have a ticket for a trip scheduled that way in the near future, contact the company for more information.
