Car seat safety inspection

WHO/WHAT:   Allstate agency owners across the Tri-Cities and Safe Kids Benton-Franklin are welcoming local families to have their car seats reviewed by certified technicians during National Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept. 15-21). Their community leadership will earn a $5,000 Helping Hands Grant from The Allstate Foundation for Safe Kids Benton-Franklin, which will purchase car seats for families in need.

WHERE:  Leona Libby Middle School, 3259 Belmont Blvd, West Richland, WA

WHEN:  Saturday, Sept. 21, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

WHY:  Tri-Cities agents are passionate about their communities and want to help ensure more kids come home safe. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car seats and boosters are one of the easiest ways to keep a child safe and, when installed correctly, car seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury in a crash by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers. Yet nearly half of all car seats are installed incorrectly. By reviewing proper car seat use and installation, families will also ensure they meet the updated Washington state regulations that will take effect Jan. 1, 2020.
