Columbia Basin College in Pasco has come up with a possible solution for the current teacher shortage... by offering a Bachelor's degree that can lead to teacher certification.

"Our school districts came to us to sort of problem solve and as we were looking at the Bachelor's programs that were offered in the state, we noticed that the Bachelor's of Applied Science in Teacher Education was being offered in other places, like Pierce Community College," said Daphne Larios, Dean of Transitional Studies at CBC.

To start, there are 20 spaces open for students who completed their Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Early Childhood Education at CBC.

Once they complete the program, graduates will be qualified to teach pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade.
