(Pasco, WA) -- Columbia Basin College will host the East Regional rounds of the Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship this weekend following a three-set sweep of Treasure Valley CC on Wednesday.


The Hawks took off early--winning the first set 25-15. OH Lucendy Perez and RS Tamia Allen-Greggs had three kills a piece. The Chukars scored the first point of the second set, but it didn't take long for CBC to reclaim the lead--spurred on by an five-point run with MB Grace Morby in service. The squad never looked back, and clinched the second set 25-14. Treasure Valley kept it closer in the earlier stages of the third set; they trailed just 14-11 at one point, but CBC pulled away shortly thereafter. TVCC called a timeout late to try and change the momentum, but the Hawks scored seven straight points to win the set 25-13, and win the match three-games-to-none.


Perez led the the CBC team offensively with eight kills, while Greggs and Morby each had six. Treasure valley was led in scoring by OH Rachel Sanders. She had seven kills.


With the win, the CBC improved to 18-9 on the year, 12-4 in conference play. Aided by a Yakima Valley loss to North Idaho, CBC was able secure the #1 seed in the East. They will host the first two rounds of the NWAC Championship this Saturday and Sunday. The first match starts at 10am PT. Columbia Basin will play Whatcom Community College at 1pm.
