A resurfacing project on George Washington Way in Richland could lead some students to show up late for classes at Washington State University Tri-Cities on Monday.

School officials encourage students to plan ahead for possible delays.

Contractors for the city of Richland started resurfacing a large section of George Washington Way between Van Giesen Street and Sprout Road last month.

According to the City of Richland, lane closures near campus are expected to continue through at least the first few weeks of classes.

At least one lane will remain open in each direction  while the resurfacing project is underway, but back-ups are expected.

Students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to map out an alternate route before classes get underway Monday morning, like taking Jadwin to Stevens and using the entrance near the Wine Center.

You can check for construction updates on the City of Richland website.
