A 90-year old Franklin County man has died of complications of influenza.

Dr. Amy Person, Health Officer for Benton and Franklin Health District said, "It's a sober reminder that even though flu season is just getting started, now is the time to get immunized.   Flu vaccine is available at pharmacies, doctors offices, and at the health district."

In addition to getting vaccinated, flu prevention tips include washing your hands often, covering your cough, avoid touching your face, and stay home when your sick.

Influenza can be mild to severe, at times, can lead to death. Flu usually comes on suddenly.

Symptoms of flu include:

Fever or feeling feverish-chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, although, this is more common in children.
