(Spokane, WA) -- The trial of a former Pasco Police officer accused of strangling a Spokane woman to death in 1986 begins today. Prosecutors say 57-year-old Richard Aguirre killed 27-year-old Ruby Doss, who was working as a prostitute at the time of her murder. Aguirre was charged with the murder in 2015 when a DNA sample submitted by Agirre in a separate rape investigation matched evidence collected in the Doss case. The previous case was dismissed over questions regarding the evidence. Charges were re-filed last year after investigators found Aguirre's DNA on a condom wrapper connected to the same case.
