SEATTLE, Wash.- Former three-term Republican U-S Senator Slade Gorton passed away this morning in Seattle.


His 40 years of public service included ten years in the State Legislature, three terms as the State Attorney General and several terms in the U-S Senate before losing in 2000 to Maria Cantwell in the closest Senate race in state history.


Gorton was 92 years old.
