Over the past month, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office has worked with the Washington State Patrol's Eradication Narcotics Enforcement to remove tens of thousands of illegal marijuana plants in northern parts of the county.

The latest effort resulted in the seizure of more than 26,000 mature plants growing among cord in fields off of Hendricks Road, Juniper and Olympia Roads, and Russell Road.

With the plants confiscated this week, deputies have pulled more than 70,000 matures plants that were being grown illegally.

Deputies say they also seized about 500 lbs. of processed marijuana being prepared for distribution.
