OLYMPIA-Wash.- One of the criticisms of Governor Jay Inslee's approach to battling the Coronavirus has been the thought that he intends to rebuild the state's economy with a "green initiative".

"We should not be intimidated when people say 'Oh, you can't use this COVID crisis to peddle a solution to climate change.' No, we have to recognize the necessity of this moment, that this will allow us to rebuild our economy and jump-start it", Inslee noted.

The Governor appeared last week on an online climate change forum, sponsored and hosted by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

"We can't use COVID for an excuse for inaction on climate change", Inslee added. "These are two things we have to deal with, and we can deal with both, because they're so similar. They are both based on an understanding of science".

Inslee told the assembled guest and an online audience that although he was not able to move his climate change agenda in the Washington State Legislature in the last session, he's hopeful Democrats can flip a few Senate seats in order to be more successful next year.
