The groundbreaking for Fire Station 430 was held Monday morning, which is the first station for Benton County Fire District 4 in over 20-years, according to Fire Captain Bob Shannon.

A bond was approved for 7.5 million dollars last year by Benton County voters.

Shannon said, "The goal is to improve response times in the western end of the fire district and to purchase new apparatus.  New fire trucks will be ordered soon."

Station 430 will be constructed on Keene Road in West Richland, and should be completed by November, 2020.

BCFD 4 Fire Chief Bill Whealan said, "It was always on my radar, once I got here 8 years ago.  To see this at it's fruition is amazing.  To be able to provide more support, reduce response times, and save lives.  It's amazing!"
