The Benton Franklin Health District has confirmed a second flu-related death in Benton County.

According to a press release, the victim was a woman in her 80s.

On Monday, health officials announced that a man in his 70s had died from flu-related complications.

Twenty people in Benton and Franklin Counties died from influenza during the 2017-2018 flu season.

"Flu activity is picking up," said Dr. Amy Person with the health district. "But there is still time to get a flu shot."

She says the vaccine is the best way to protect against the virus, coupled with diligent hand washing, avoiding touching your face, covering your coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you're sick.
