Kennewick residents use sidewalk chalk to spread cheer in time of uncertainty

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The sun was shining Sunday afternoon, and while Gov. Jay Inslee has called for Washington residents to practice social distancing, neighbors in one Kennewick subdivision found a way to encourage each other over the weekend.

A call to "Chalk Your Walk" went out on the Shadow Run subdivision's facebook group page over the weekend, encouraging residents to pull out the sidewalk chalk to share their inspiring artwork with neighbors.

Some of the artwork included drawings of flowers and trees, while others included inspiring and encouraging messages.

Several residents were out Sunday and Monday, stopping to admire the artwork and read the messages left by children and adults.
