For close to a week, Kennewick Police have investigated several reports of burglaries at apartment units in complexes along W. 10th Avenue east of Olympia.

In each case, the door of the apartment unit had been kicked in, and valuables were taken.

"We've had approximately eight residential burglaries in the area of the Arlo Apartments and the Heatherstone Apartments, where they've forced entry into the home and have stolen property,' said Sgt. Jason Kiel with the Kennewick Police Department.

Tuesday night, a woman called 911 to report that a group of teens had tried forcing their way into her apartment at

Heatherstone apartments.

Kiel says officers were in the area and were on the scene were within moments. They spotted three teens between two buildings and detained them for questioning.

Ultimately, the boys were taken into custody and questioned. As the investigation continued, three other boys were also arrested.

"We believe that these are the six individuals that have been doing that. We also have two other individuals possibly identified who also may have been involved," Kiel said.

He said he expects the burglaries to stop now that the suspects have been identified and arrested.

"We just want citizens in that area to feel safer again. This was a top priority for us."

Kiel says the six boys are ages 12, 13, 14, 14, 15, and 16. Parents of the teens could also face charges for failing to properly supervise the boys.

Anyone with additional information about the investigation is asked to contact the Kennewick Police Department at 509-628-0333.
