A student from Kiona-Benton High School was arrested Wednesday after officials found a firearm in his vehicle.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the student reportedly made threats toward another student during lunch, and someone notified school officials that the teen might have a gun in his truck.

Investigators say the firearm was never displayed in the parking lot, and was never brought into the school.

Superintendent Pete Peterson confirmed in a message to parents that no students or staff were in any immediate danger, and the student involved was disciplined.

Deputies say the teen was booked into jail, and could face charges.
