(Spokane, WA) -- A hung jury led to a mistrial Thursday night in the case of Richard Aguirre. He is the former Pasco Police officer accused of murdering Ruby Doss in 1986. Aguirre was named a suspect in the case in 2015, after DNA was said to be linked to him. Charges were filed but the case was dismissed in 2017. The case was refiled and Aguirre was again prosecuted. Doss was a sex worker, whose body was discovered next to a building in East Spokane. Prosecutors say she and Aguirre had a likely sexual encounter in a manure pile near that scene, and at some point she ended up fleeing, with her killer giving chase. Aguirre's new trial is set for March 7, 2022.
