Monday night fire destroys Wapato home

Fire destroyed a home in Wapato Monday night.

When crews from Yakima County Fire District 5 arrived on the scene just before 9 p.m., they reported finding the house fully engulfed in flames and the roof starting to cave in.

No one was inside when the fire started, and there were no injuries.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to help the displaced residents.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
