COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.-- Stolen items posted for sale on Craigslist landed a Pasco man behind bars this week.


College Place Police officers were investigating the theft of several items from a home this week, when at least one of the items that was stolen from the home was posted for sale on Craigslist.


Officers started communicating with the seller, posing as an interested buyer, and scheduled an appointment to meet with the man.


On Tuesday, January 5, 2020, College Place Police Officers in plain clothes met with Robert Rainey, 41, while deputies from the Walla Walla County Sherif's stood by out of sight.


When the seller came to an agreement on a price with the plain clothed officer and the two started to exchange the items, officers and deputies closed in and took Rainey into custody.


Rainey was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on charges of Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd Degree and Trafficking Stolen Property in the 2nd Degree as well as additional charges.
