Pilot dies in plane crash near Ellensburg

A small plane went down shortly after taking off from Bowers Field in Ellensburg Thursday evening, killing the pilot.

The Kittitas County Sheriffs Department responded to a field after a farm owner called 911 to report the plane had crashed on his property just before 5pm.

Investigators are still piecing what happened.
