A $9.8 million building for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is one step closer to reality.

Larry Maples with PNNL says they have awarded contracts to a Richland construction company and a Portland architecture firm.

“It is going to provide us a new large facility to host scientific meetings here in the Tri-Cities, to showcase not only the Pacific Laboratory, but all of the work we do here,” says Maples.

The Collaboration Center is expected to draw in more visitors to the Tri-Cities for conferences and projects.

He says they are set to break ground later this year and the building is set to be complete next fall.
