Red light cameras are operating in Pasco.  They're located at the intersections of Road 68 & Burden Blvd & 20th Ave. & Court St.  For the next 30 days, violators will be given a written warning.  After that, it can be a $125 ticket sent to the vehicle’s registered owner.

The City of Pasco uses Redflex Traffic Systems equipment.  The cameras record video and images of cars that enter the intersection after the red light is activated.  The video will be sent to the Pasco Police Department, where it will be reviewed by trained officers.  If the officer makes the decision that a red-light violation took place, the vehicle’s registered owner receives the ticket in the mail.

Pasco Sergeant Scott Warren said, “This warning period gives drivers in Pasco time to adjust to the program.  Our goal is to reduce red-light running that leads to crashes and untimely deaths, so we want residents to be aware of the deterrent and modify their driving behaviors,”

The notified vehicle owners will have the opportunity to contest the fine.
