STANFIELD, Ore. (AP) - Oregon resident Leland Winebarger says the smell being emitted from a dehydration plant near his business is so bad that it made him vomit on Wednesday.

Another resident, Kathy Baker, says the plant's fumes smell like "dead flesh."

The East Oregonian reports that the state Department of Environmental Quality contacted 3D IdaPro about its plant earlier this week after receiving 17 complaints in one day.

Department representatives said the company immediately responded by saying a mechanism it uses to suppress the smell was damaged in a winter fire.

Department spokesman Greg Svelund says there is no specific date set that the company has to repair its air cleaning device by.
