Pasco Police recovered a Mustang that was stolen out of Toppenish, thanks to a call from an alert resident.

Officers responded to a call early Tuesday morning about an out-of-place sports car in the 100 Block of North Douglas.

When they arrived, they discovered a 27-year old Yakima man sleeping behind the wheel of a blue 2007 Ford Mustang.

The man, identified as Wilbert Sanchez, was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a stolen car.

Officers spotted other allegedly stolen items in the vehicle, and after obtaining a search warrant, confirmed that a handgun and ammunition in the car had been reported stolen out of Yakima.
