A majority of drivers in Washington and Oregon say, its not dangerous to use their phone while driving, according to a new poll.

Derek Wing from PEMCO says 46% of people in the poll admitted to using the phone while on the roads. Of those, 51% say they use their phone because they didn't think it was dangerous at the time. Others say they do it because they don’t think they’ll get caught.

"The worst offenders appear to be parents, 2/3 of parents with kids living at home under the age of 18 admit to using their phones behind the wheel, not only is that dangerous because they are driving but it sets a really bad example," says Wing.

Wing adds half of teens polled think using a cell phone is the most dangerous thing they see their parents do behind the wheel. You can find the survey here.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that over 3,000 people are killed each year due to crashes involving distracted drivers.
