Kennewick Police are investigating at least two reports of thefts that happened during realtor open houses.

"It appears a white male is potentially coming into open houses-- houses that are for sale that either the owner or realtor is holding an open house-- and targeting prescription medications and taking those medications," said Lt. Aaron Clem.

One victim posted doorbell video of the suspect after prescription medication and a family heirloom ring were taken from their home near Southridge High School on Saturday.

Clem says Saturday's case may be related to a case dating back to September 28th of this year where only prescription medication was stolen.

"There is a possibility that he could be working in conjunction with another person to keep the realtor preoccupied," said Clem.

He encourages realtors to not get too tied into a conversation with one prospective buyer for an extended period of time, and to ask homeowners whether they have any medication in the home, and to make sure it's either locked up or removed before the open house event.

Clem also encourages homeowners to not hang on to outdated and unused prescription medication. The Kennewick Police Department maintains a drug drop-off box in its lobby, and has scheduled a prescription Drug Take-Back event for October 26th.
