In conjunction with a national movement, local Tri-Cities groups are encouraging the community to take part in "A Day without Women" today.

Chair of the Tri-Cities Young Democrats, Amsley Gerhard says the idea is to have woman stay home from work to show their importance, but if that is not possible they are asking the community to wear red or donate to Domestic Violence Services of Benton & Franklin Counties.

"In light of the recent attacks on our reproductive rights from the Trump administration, we're not going back, we are here, we are active and we are going to continue to fight for a society in which women are equal," says Gerhard.

Also Wednesday, as part of International Women's Day, The Honeypot Huddle, a newly-formed local women’s civic group, is hosting a rally that is being held from 4-6:00 p.m. at the John Dam Plaza in Richland.
